Is it safe to operate my vehicle while I’m waiting to replace the defective parts?

No, please immediately terminate use of your vehicle until you can confirm that you have affected ball joints and they (both sides) are replaced by a professional. Continued operation of your vehicle with affected ball joints is unsafe and may result in a crash.

What are my options?

There are two options available to correct the affected parts: Option-1. Cognito Motor sports will provide upgraded internal components to retrofit your ball joints, restoring them to new operational condition (shortest service time). Option-2. Cognito Motorsports will provide new updated replacement ball joints that may require removal of the upper control arms from the vehicle (potentially longer service time) to remove and replace the entire ball joint assembly. Both options are equally effective repairs.

Who will pay for the repairs?

Cognito Motorsports will take care of the cost of either replacement options in accordance with the guidelines approved by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Cognito will help put you in touch with an authorized recall service provider that can perform the necessary recall replacement of affected parts. If you elect to find your own service provider, Cognito will pay $125 to perform this recall at a rate of one-hour of labor @ 30 minutes per ball joint. We can pay your designated shop directly or reimburse you for the authorized $125 replacement labor cost.
