SHOCK ABSORBER TECHNICIAN

Overview: The Shock (Absorber) Technician is responsible for managing the shock tuning, maintenance and rebuild work production in the Cognito Performance Shop.

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of experience rebuilding and re-valving performance automotive and powersports shock absorbers. Technical knowledge of FOX, King and Bilstein shock products a plus. Must be proficient at troubleshooting, disassembly, reassembly and dyno testing shock absorbers. This position requires exceptional mechanical skills, attention to detail and the ability to produce mistake-free results under pressure. Customer service, time and project management skills are an absolute requirement, along with the ability to contribute to a team workflow and work cooperatively with all departments to produce an uncompromised customer service experience.

Requirements:
  • Advance technical knowledge, skill and experience rebuilding, reworking, re-valving, mounting and dyno testing a broad range of off-road shock absorbers.
  • Accurate and efficient order entry and data management skills and ability to understand and execute detailed instructions.
  • Advanced computer skills, with the ability to read technical drawings/engineering documents, and to create and manage service order/invoicing operations.
  • Proficient building and working with Excel spreadsheets and using databases for part searches and mining technical specifications.
  • Must be honest, trustworthy, self-starting with an exemplary work ethic and communication skills.
  • Capable of standing long periods of time and lifting up to 50lbs. without assistance.
  • Technical knowledge of vehicle suspension and exceptional mechanical skills working with tolerances.
  • Dependable, accountable team player, driven to achieve excellence on a consistent basis.
  • Excellent time and project manage skills, with ability to drive projects and make deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
  • Professional customer service skills, with the ability to interface with clients and accurately and efficiently prescribe scope of work, estimated costs and turnaround times.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure efficient management and execution of the shock absorber department workflows.
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of retail and internal shock work, including planning, preparation and advance parts ordering.
  • Establish professional cross department communication that promotes teamwork and efficient effective work production with engineering, sales and accounting teams.
  • Strive to achieve customer satisfaction through all facets of your department operations, for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs all mechanical work with the utmost consideration to quality and safety, utilizing industry best standards and practices.
  • Must learn the proper operation of all machines in the work area.
  • Ensures that all replacement parts meet specifications and tolerances prior to final assembly.
  • Quality inspects all work performed to ensure that it passes all functionality and finish appearance standards.
  • Maintains a clean workstation and cleans-up production areas as required.
  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder and stairs
  • Must be able to stoop, crawl, kneel and maneuver around parts and equipment
